FAMILY FUNCTIONING AND SOCIAL COMPETENCE IN ADOLESCENTS: MEDIATING ROLE OF EMOTIONAL REGULATION

The present study aimed at investigating the mediating role of emotion regulation in relationship between family functioning and social competences adolescents. ICPS Family Functioning Scale (Noller, Seth-Smith, Bouma, & Schweitzer, 1992), Emotion Regulation Questionnaire for Children Adolescents (Gullone Taffe, 2012) Social Competence (Smart Sanson, 2003) were used on 621 adolescents, selected by purposive sampling technique to measure variables. Results revealed that has significant positive with cognitive reappraisal (r=.17, p<0.01), emotional (r=.14, p<0.01) competence (r=.36, p<0.01). correlation suppression (r=.39, (r=.34, (β=.31, (β=.29, have significantly positively predicted college students. Intimacy (β=.39, conflict (β=.11, Cognitive (β=.38, partially mediated Implications are discussed light results. Keywords: Adolescents, Intimacy, Parenting Style, Reappraisal, Competence.
